Meet JQ
Hi there,
I was equal parts shocked and delighted the day I stepped onto a yoga mat at my local gym. I left class sweaty, refreshed and empowered in the strength and grace of doing less. As I deepened my practice, on and off the yoga mat, my outlook on a sustainable life and living began to evolve.
Many of my formative years have been rooted in my identity as a student-athlete, preparing my body to be in its most optimal shape to compete. That meant weight training, high-intensity interval training and high impact exercises. I loved the mental toughness it required to push another rep, finish a sprint or jump one inch higher. The grit and grind of working to reach my fullest potential is what drove me forward, and continues to do so.
I have found many similar mental and physical possibilities for growth in yoga. As I began to learn and appreciate the various types of the physical practice (Asana), I became inspired by Power Vinyasa and its five core pillars: breath (Pranayama), heat (Tapas), flow (Vinyasa), gaze (Drishti) and core (Uddiyana Bandha). These elements are central to my teaching, as well as ensuring this practice is accessible and sustainable for you.
I hope to share this practice with you because I believe in the power of the process. The power of gathering together, grounding through the mind-body connection and growing into something greater than yourself because that is the true practice of yoga.
